Short biographical sketch of Prof Massimo Bottini

Massimo Bottini received his PhD in Sensorial and Learning Systems at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2004. He did his post-doctoral training at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SPB, La Jolla, USA) from 2004 to 2009.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Department of Experimental Medicine and he teaches Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Nanomedicine at the Faculty of Engineering of the same campus. He is also an Affiliate Associate Professor at the SBP and a Visiting Professor at the Chinese Academy of Science (Beijing, China). He has been the recipient of fellowships/grants from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Arthritis National Research Foundation and the Chinese Academy of Science President’s International Fellowship Initiative. His research is focused on 1) the development of “second generation” nanodrugs to improve the delivery of drugs into specific cell sub-populations residing in diseased tissues, 2) the investigation of the biologic interactions of nanoengineered particles and 3) the investigation of the molecular pathways regulating bone mineralization.
