Investigation of the role of elongation of very long chain fatty acids protein 4 (Elovl4) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (tutor: Gerry Melino)
My research project aims to investigate the critical role of Elovl4 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Owing to the requirement of Elovl4 and its products for the development and functionality of skin, Elovl4-mediated very long chain fatty acids biosynthesis can also participate in the process and biology of HNSCC. In my project, I focus on the relationship between Elovl4-mediated lipid metabolism and mitochondrial homeostasis to understand the metabolic mechanisms by which Elovl4 affects HNSCC.
