PhD students and professors partecipated at the “Host-microbe co-evolution” symposium held on 3-4 Dec 2024 at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and partially organised by Gerry Melino, professor emeritus of our PhD school and a member of the Accademia dei Lincei.

Founded in 1603, the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei is the oldest scientific academy worldwide. Its Fellows included, among many other prestigious names, Galileo Galilei, Enrico Fermi, Albert Einstein, T.S. Eliot, Camillo Golgi, Luigi Einaudi, Quintino Sella, Giulio Natta, Louis Pasteur, Charles Darwin, Benedetto Croce, Rita Levi-Montalcini. Presently, it is lead by the Italian 2021 Nobel laureate in Physics, Giorgio Parisi.

This event has been a unique opportunity to learn about multiple facets of host-microbe co-evolution in animal and plant physiology, as well as in various human diseases. This exclusive meeting included several luminary scientists in the field, and emphasized informal discussions of ideas about how to advance our understanding of host-microbiome co-evolution. It was sponsored by European Academy of Tumor Immunology, and partly by CDDpress, part of Springer Nature.
