Short biographical sketch of Dr Artem Smirnov
Dr Artem Smirnov received his PhD at University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 2017. His PhD thesis was focused on understanding of epigenetic regulation of gene expression in human keratinocytes orchestrated by transcription factor p63, a member of the p53 family. After completing his PhD, Dr Smirnov worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof Xin Lu lab at University of Oxford (UK). During that period he studied interplay between p63 and iASPP in skin carcinogenesis as well as p53-dependent regulation of human oncogenic viruses such as EBV. In 2022 he returend to Italy is a Researcher (RTDa) at University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in Prof Eleonora Candi’s lab, and since 2024 Dr Smirnov is Assistant Professor (tenure track) in molecular biology.
