The Department of Experimental Medicine offers a Ph.D. program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) which begins in the Autumn Quarter of each year. The program of study is designed to prepare students for productive careers in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Its emphasis is training in research, and each student works closely with members of the staff. The training is performed also in the Department of Biology and in the Department of Chemical Sciences and Technologies, as well as foreign international research Institutions such as the DZNE in Germany.

The BMB graduate research training is interdisciplinary, with a concentration in one or more of the following areas: Molecular Dinamics, Computational Biology, Drug Design, Structural Biology, Biochemistry and Enzimology, Cell Death Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Oncogenes and Onco-suppressors, Skin Diffentiation and Skin Deseases, Biotecnology, Regulation of Transcription, Cell Cycle Regulation, microRNA.

The methods and experimental approaches used to address questions within these areas range from the techniques of molecular biology, protein chemistry, cell biology and biophysics to those of molecular and developmental genetics.
