Nicola Rosato is Full Professor in Biochemistry in the Faculty of Medical Engineering (since 2000) and Director of the Medical Engineering Service at the “Tor Vergata” University Hospital (since 2002). She began her career with a degree in Physics, (1978), Pisa University, allowing her to pursue work on optical spectroscopy of proteins and the fluorescence of proteins and other biological molecules, including a position at CNR, Rome (1985-1988). In 1988, Rosato became Associate Professor at the Department of Experimental Medicine and Biochemical Sciences, Medical School, University of Rome “Tor Vergata” teaching Experimental Biochemistry. Between 1990-2000, she was the Chair of Biophysics. Her research areas are: Structure and function of biological macromolecules under high pressure and electromagnetic field; Application of optical spectroscopy and Near Infrared Spectroscopy “in vivo”; Smart nanomaterials in biology and medicine; and Medical devices. In total, she has published around 90 papers.
